Central Iowa We Need Your Help!
The economy for the past fifteen months has been nothing but dismal. Many Iowans have found themselves in situations that they never thought they'd be in due to job loss and/or salary cuts, the mortgage crisis and the credit industry. The declining economy has created an even larger demand for food-related assistance throughout the State of Iowa meaning that more people than usual are relying on help from the Food Bank of Iowa to help feed their families. The increased need for help from the Food Bank of Iowa has depleted the emergency food supply made available to central Iowa families around the holidays. The Food Bank of Iowa desperately needs your help this Fall so they can continue to help families across the state.
Want to start a food drive at your school or business? Combat Hunger is over for the 2009 year, but we are looking for more schools and businesses to particpate with our 2010 drive! If you're interested, please click here for details.

Items Needed
The Food Bank of Iowa has several items that are needed the most. These items include:
1. Cold Cereal
2. High protein items (peanut butter, canned tuna and chicken)
3. 100% Fruit Juice
4. Boxed Meal Kits
5. Paper and Personal Products (paper towels, toilet paper, diapers, bar soap,
shampoo and toothpaste)
Please check dates on all items to make sure they are not expired. Also remember to avoid bringing items in glass containers, as they have a tendency to break. Also, The Food Bank of Iowa cannot accept home-canned goods.

The Mission of Combat Hunger
It is the mission of Combat Hunger to increase community awareness of Iowa's critical hunger problem, and through that awareness, activate and facilitate community-wide involvement in a massive food and fund drive in support of the Food Bank of Iowa. The objective of this drive is to provide enough food to feed hungry Iowans during the most severe weeks of winter.

All donations directly benefit Food Bank of Iowa, celebrating their 29th year of service to Iowa. In our nineteen year history, STAR 102.5's Combat Hunger has raised over 1.5 million pounds of food. All of those donations stay right here in Iowa.
